RELSON GRACIE JIU-JITSU AUSTIN ASSOCIATION

8-26-07 - Our team did outstanding at the Mundials: World Championships of Jiu-Jitsu in Long Beach this year. From our academy, Christy, Glen, Shama & Scott all went and fought. Several fighters won matches by submission and Christy Thomas brought home the Adult Brown/Black Belt Division 2nd place. We believe this is the only medal brought back to the state of Texas this year from this tournament.

9-01-07 - 9-17-07 Wrestling class will start again. Class will have a wealth of talent to pool from and will be lead by NCAA Champion Jason Carr Friday 6 pm & Sundays 2-4pm. Feel free to take a free class!

8-05-07 - Justin Dyer (our Blue Belt) beat a 6 time Jiu-Jitsu World Champ with a gi on in a Ten minute match! Our team also brought home most of the wins and more than 85% of the prize money at a local tournament! Way to go team. It was a pleasure to see people I taught close out another open division! Great job. THe white belts showed great skills against "professional fighters". Great job to all involved. Good class at the academy same day as well.

5-19-07 - Team Relson Gracie won at the Gracie Fighting Challenge In Columbus Ohio. Our Team Fighter Phil Cardella, Daniel Moraes & Nissen all won their matches. Big Congrats. This was a pay per view event.

2-22-07 - Master Relson Gracie will be visiting Austin for training at the end of April. He will stay in town for at least four days.

2-22-07 - Early April 4 X World Champ Daniel Moraes will be in Austin for a week to train with the team, do seminar & privates.

2-14-07 - 3-6-07 Deigo Moraes (Royler Gracie Black Belt) will be arriving in Austin & visiting our Texas assocations to conduct seminars, privates & group classes. He has won lots of local tournaments in Brazil & won two gold medals at the Gracie Submission World Championships last year. He is a hard worker and has lots of the newest tricks from Brazil and will be training while in Texas. Take advatage.

2-2-07 - Gracie World Submission Championships 3-3 & 4-07 Columbus, Ohio. This years competition will be a stand alone event not affiliated with any other event. Our focus will be on our Gi Competition. We will still host an Amateur Pro No Gi qualifier and an Elite Pro No Gi competition. Prize Money in the 3 Men's Divisions will be $2,000.00 to the winner and $1,000.00 to the runner-up.

2-2-07 - Phil Cardella will be conducting a Self-Defense & Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu seminar in League City Texas 2-10-07. 2-2-07 - Our purple belt Ryan Larson will have his professional boxing debute at a Black tie event in Austin at the Hilton Hotel downtown 2-8-07 this event will have a world title on the line & has been put together by Richard Lord.

2-1-07 - B-B-Q @ the academy on Saturday 2-3-07. After training we will have some B-B-Q. We will train extra, till about 4 pm if everyone has the energy. We have a bunch of advanced students coming in to train even from out of town. Make sure to take advantage of this great tournament training and just good training in general.

06-05-06 - Relson Gracie promoted: Phil Cardella, Kimo Kreis, and Ronn Shiraki to Black Belt. Easily over a hundred people packed into the academy on Queen street to witness the happy event. So now our Head Instructor Phil Cardella has earned his Black Belt and is back on our mats.

6-03-06 - Honolulu Hawaii Relson Gracie Interassocation Tournament at Relson's main academy! It will be just for the Relson Gracie Team & will award medals. It should be a fun time for all & great competition.

5-25/30-06 - Rhalan Gracie will be in Central Texas for five days. The 25th 5:30-8:30pm we will host a seminar with Rhalan Gracie, Deigo Moraes, and Phil Cardella. The 27th Rhalan will host a noon seminar in San Antonio at our new Assocation there. That night we will host Rhalan Gracie for the Royce Gracie vs Matt Hughes UFC!

5-16-06 - 5-16-06 Deigo Moraes is in Central Texas for a ten day visit. Deigo is a Pan-Am Champ & is this years Arnolds Classic Brown Belt Gi Champ & Pro. No-Gi Champ. At the Arnolds Deigo beat three Black Belt Champions in a row that out weighted him. Saturday May 20th at 3:00pm is the next seminar. The cost of his seminars are just $25 an hour. He is also avalible for private lessons & group class. Make sure to train with him while he is in town.

3-3-06 - Phil Cardella made his return to N.H.B. fighting and won 1st round by submission! This was the first time an American EVER represented the Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Team in No Holds Barred Fighting. This was at the Gracie Fighting Championships at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus Ohio in front of 6,000 people to include Relson Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Carlson Gracie Jr, Daniel Gracie, Randy Couture, Andre Arlovski, Shaolin Ribero, Mark Coleman, Matt Lindland, Joe Frasier, & Bas Rutten.

03-09-06 - Daniel Moraes 4X Jiu-Jitsu World Champion will be in Austin for Seminars, group class & privates lessons. He arrives March 21st 2006!

11-20/27-05 - Daniel Moraes 4 X Jiu-Jitsu World Champ will be coming to Austin for a 7 day stay. He will be arriving Nov. 20th & staying till Nov. 27th. He will be prepairing for his match against World Champion Anrea Galvao. Daniel will also be conducting seminars, private lessons, semi-private lessons and at some regular classes. Daniel has many techniques that have helped him win against many World Champions and he will be sharing his techniques with us and training hard, make sure to check the message board of our site & the posted training schedule with Daniel @ the Academy. Don't miss this!

11-12-05 - Phil Cardella will be fighting in the Las Vegas Grapplers Quest Professional 8 Man Light Weight Invitational Tournament. This bracket has some of the toughest lightweight from around the world. Phil is currently bracketed to fight World Champ of Jiu-Jitsu Jeff Glover 1st round. Christy Thomas is also competeing in the Professional Division of Grapplers Quest Las Vegas she is fighting in a 16 Woman tournament paired up to fight Sarah Boyd (Alberto Crane/Santa Fe BJJ) a World Champ of Jiu-Jitsu. This should be a great event!

9-10-05 - Phil Cardella hsa been invited and is fighting in the Grappler Quest 205 lb. & Under 16 Man Professional Super Fight Tournament. Mark Reed, Sawyer Morris, Tim Morris, Noah Mc Guire, and Eric Gil are all planning to go as well! Details about the tournament can be found at Grapplers.com

8-23-05 - Rhalan Gracie will host his last seminar in Austin Tuesday the 23rd at 6 pm at the Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy! Make sure to train with Relson's son (Who just won the Gracie Open tournament & is now a Purple Belt Monster) while he is in Austin for his first series of seminars ever! He will be going to Brazil after he leaves Austin!

6-5-05 - RHALAN GRACIE got the ok to stop in and train on his way to Rio. Relson agreed to send his son to Austin before he goes to Rio for the Worlds. If you want to call & make sure, he gets on the plane or invite him to Austin give him ring 808-589-2524, Hawaii time is 4 hours behind Austin so make sure to call in the evening. Rhalan doesn't wake early. Relson is willing to send him for a week or two.

5-15-05 - Phil Cardella is now certified as a Level III Modern Army Combatives Instructor. He has completed the program and is able to now run Level I & II Certifications for the U.S. Army.

5-26-05 - Master Relson Gracie Arrives to RelsonGracie Austin Assocation! The first seminar will be Thursday the 26th 6:15pm-9:15pm. We will have a B-B-Q at the Academy to welcome Relson & hang out.

1-23-05 - Phil Cardella will be hosting a seminar at the Baylor Jiu-Jitsu Club Friday Jan. 29th. This is located at the Marrs Mc Clean gym on the third floor. The training is from 4-6pm. The cost is $20. Expect to see lots of techical training & sparring.

1-23-05 - Our Muay Thai Program has kicked off & is now Mon. Wed. & Thurs. 9:30pm. Saturday is 10:30am

1-23-05 - 4 X Jiu-Jitsu World Champ Daniel Moraes is training with our team for two weeks before the Arnold Gracie Worlds. He will be training everyday only at our facility.

7-8&9-04 - Master Relson Gracie will be back in Austin in for promotions & 2 seminars. Each seminar will be 3 hours long $25 an hour (attend what you can) This will be on a Thursday & a Friday both seminars will kick off @ 6:30pm.

2-23-04 - Friday Feb27th Phil Cardella will be conducting a seminar @ Baylor University for the team members @ Baylor Jiu-Jitsu Club. 3:30-5:30pm.

2-23-03 - 3X World Champ Daniel Moraes www.Danielmoraes.com will be in Austin for an extended stay starting March 10th. His brother Deigo with him.

12-31-03 - Arnold will be hosting his fitness expo. in Columbus Ohio March 5-7. Relson has his biggest tourament www.gracieworlds.com is the site, we are bringing more fighters for the event ever and fighting gi, no gi. Phil Cardella will fight in the Gi & thePro No-Gi.

12-24-03 - Master Relson Gracie will be on Texas soil teaching EVERY DAY he's here January 21-25. Relson will teach in 3 hour blocks. He will be present and working at our tournament.
